Grouper Fishing in Key Largo

Grouper are a diverse group of large, powerful fish that inhabit the bottom structures of the ocean. Species like Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, and Black Grouper are common targets. They are ambush predators, lurking around shipwrecks, artificial reefs, and natural ledges, waiting for unsuspecting prey. Catching them requires stout conventional tackle capable of handling their immense strength and their tendency to try and bury themselves in the structure. We typically use large chunks of bait like squid, octopus, or live fish, dropped to the bottom where these brutes reside.
